Annapolis Getaway

We decided to take a long weekend and visit Annapolis, Maryland for our “babymoon”.  Why Annapolis?  Well I wanted to feel like we were going away without actually driving hours to get there, especially given the fact that I’m in the 3rd trimester which means the need for frequent pee breaks and a lower back that hurts when sitting in a vehicle for longer than 30 minutes.  I’ve never been to Annapolis before and Matt had only been there once when he was much younger.  Unfortunately we timed our vacation to coincide with a record high heat wave, I’m talking about high 90 degrees and even 100 degree temperatures!  Needless to say, we didn’t do much sight-seeing or walking around the town with the heat being so ridiculously high.

Pictures of the harbor

We took this picture before waiting for the William Paca House Tour to begin.  Umm, yeah so we decided to take the 60 minute House and Garden Tour and only stayed on the tour for about 10 minutes! Even though they said the house had AC and benches to sit on, it was still pretty uncomfortable.  So I gave Matt a look that said I'm dying here and he told our hostess that we had to leave early.  Of course, this meant she had to stop the tour early and take us through back rooms to get to an exit.  We are such trouble-makers. :)

But we did manage to tour the colonial garden.  Pretty view of the back of the house.

Maryland State House or Capitol building.  As you can see it was undergoing a renovation.  We didn't actually tour the building, but Matt took a picture of it and then we stopped to get ice cream.  Stopping for ice cream every day was the highlight of my Annapolis trip.  Oh yeah and the all-you-can eat blue crabs, yum!

Matt sitting on the deck waiting for our crab-dinner at Mikes Crab House.  We had a very pretty view of the river.
